About ProcedurePath
ProcedurePath is a free patient education site about minimally invasive, image-guided treatments and the conditions they treat. We start with uterine fibroids and enlarged prostate (BPH).
Why it exists
Many patients are told about surgery or long-term medicine but never hear about image-guided options like uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) or prostate artery embolization (PAE). Some learn about them only after a major operation.
Our goal is that every patient knows all of their options and can ask about them. We stand for being offered the conversation, not for any one procedure. The right choice depends on your symptoms, goals, and imaging, and you make it with your own doctor.
Who writes ProcedurePath
ProcedurePath was created by Varun Danda, MD, an interventional radiology resident physician. Interventional radiologists use X-ray, ultrasound, CT, and MRI to guide treatments through the body, often through a small nick instead of a large incision.
Because interventional radiologists perform UFE and PAE, we say so up front. Each guide covers medicine, other procedures, and surgery too, with the risks and limits of each. Read how we write and review.
